Assistant Controller  //  Financial Offense Coach

Although many may not necessarily associate Accounting with creativity, our Accounting Department helps to support the fruition of customers’ visions through accurate planning, forecasting, and financial stewardship. As an Assistant Controller at Koroseal, Jenna Holko collaborates closely with both her department and cross-functional teams to ensure that financial data flows accurately and timely into our systems. Her financial data and insights help drive how our business operates, supporting strategic decision making that ultimately impacts customer satisfaction. Jenna’s accurate reporting and fully integrated approach help drive leadership decisions in various areas; from quality and inventory, to pricing and product investments.

Jenna’s Creator Journey

Growing up in Kansas, Jenna loved problem-solving and was also a proud Chiefs fan. Both her supportive and analytical nature are two qualities that had always come naturally to her. Although the financial services sector wasn’t an area of passion for Jenna at first - most kids would say the same - she did always love deciphering information and finding solutions. This, coupled with the fact that her mother was an accountant, started to set the foundation for Jenna’s future love of accounting.

Jenna actually began college as a psychology major, then switched to marketing. Soon after starting accounting classes, though, she quickly recognized it was where she wanted to focus her career.  Jenna then made the final decision to make Accounting her major. Working with data was fun for Jenna, and she loved that it offered a clear, organized way to understand how a business operates.

After gaining her Accounting degree, Jenna spent eight years in public accounting, working for Deloitte - one of the “Big Four” accounting firms. The experience provided her invaluable exposure to a wide range of industries, acquisition transactions, and complex technical accounting issues - learnings you may not necessarily gather while working within one single company. It also allowed her to collaborate with diverse teams, helping Jenna exercise her abilities to adapt and problem solve in dynamic environments.

Today, as our Assistant Controller, Jenna serves as a trusted and valuable resource at Koroseal. She plays a key role within the accounting and finance team, overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, supporting month-end close processes, maintaining internal controls, and driving process improvements to support business growth.

“Being part of a dynamic and growing organization, like Koroseal, means my role continues to evolve -  which keeps each day challenging and rewarding.”

Through her close collaboration with our corporate controller, accounting staff, and other teams throughout the organization, Jenna not only helps to provide  accurate and timely financial data, but also useful insights into how to leverage that data for the optimal operation of Koroseal.

Creating Meaningful Insights

As an Assistant Controller, Jenna is feeding important financial data and information to her leadership team to help them make the best decisions for Koroseal, and our customers. With her support, Koroseal is able to make informed, strategic decisions.

Jenna’s approach looks beyond the data itself, as she strives to not only solve problems as they arise, but proactively support smart decision making to improve our processes and experiences. Her holistic approach to navigating data insights has evolved since becoming a mom. Jenna’s daughter is blind, which has truly refreshed Jenna’s perspective. While navigating the world through her daughter’s eyes, she has found a  renewed sense of empathy and intention, both personally and professionally. Since becoming a mother, Jenna has learned to slow down, observe, listen differently, and reprioritize.

“While accuracy and process are still important, I think more strategically about how financial data can drive smarter decisions, and support the bigger picture.

Mentorship and cross-functional work have helped me grow, but motherhood has been the most transformative part of my journey.”

Jenna is no stranger to creative thinking. In accounting, functionality is essential—everything must be accurate, compliant, and reliable - but, creativity is equally important when it comes to improving processes, solving problems, or finding more efficient ways to present financial data. By staying connected with different business users across the company, Jenna is able to build an ever-evolving understanding  of how broader trends are playing out within our organization. This information allows her to better interpret the financials in context, and ensures her work stays aligned with the real needs of the business.

“(While working) I first ensure that core requirements—accuracy, timeliness, and control—are fully met. From there, I look for opportunities to be creative within that framework. This might mean designing more intuitive report layouts, automating manual processes, or rethinking how we communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.”

Jenna’s “customers” are often our internal teams. She actively seeks opportunities and information to help our teams work smarter and support the broader business.  Our organization relies on Jenna’s information to make ongoing decisions - decisions that have impact. With her smart and efficient reporting, management has timely and accurate financial information when they need it - driving effective decision making when it counts.

Creating with Jenna

We met with Jenna to learn more about her approach and inspiration.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Jenna: What I enjoy most about my job is my team. Everyone brings unique strengths to the table, and there’s a sincere desire to see each other succeed. I really appreciate the open communication, the willingness to support each other, and the shared commitment to doing things the right way. Being part of a team that takes pride in their work and values continuous improvement creates a positive and motivating environment - one I’m truly grateful to be a part of.

What is a trend or practice in your field that you are particularly fond of?

Jenna: It’s a little nerdy, but I’ve always been intrigued by revenue accounting because it forms the foundation for how businesses recognize and report their core financial performance. I enjoy seeing how ASC 606, one of the most recent substantial changes in accounting, is applied in everyday transactions and appreciate the complexities and nuances it brings. With new contract types and evolving business models, there’s always something new to learn and consider.

What is a memorable piece of advice or quote you find inspiring?

Jenna: One phrase that has always inspired me is: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” It’s a powerful reminder that change begins with personal responsibility and action, rather than waiting for others to lead. This quote resonates deeply with me, even more so after becoming a mom. I will always fight to ensure that my children grow up in a world that is supportive and inclusive, which starts with how I act and raise them.

What does customer service mean to you?

Jenna: To me, customer service means being reliable, responsive, and solution-oriented; whether you’re working directly with external customers, or supporting internal teams. It’s about understanding the needs of the person on the other side, communicating clearly, and delivering consistent, high-quality support.

What’s a hobby or interest that fuels your creativity?

Jenna: I love to travel and explore new places. Being in different environments helps me see things from new angles and inspires more open, creative thinking. Even short local trips can offer a fresh perspective. My family and I recently visited the Great Wolf Lodge, and it was a fun reminder that inspiration can come from anywhere.

What is your favorite Koroseal product?

Jenna: I’m excited about the new Architectural Wall Panel Systems. We’re bringing something fresh to our customers, and it’s exciting to see that come to life. While we already have an incredible range of products, I especially enjoy seeing us expand into new segments like this. It reflects our innovation as a company, and our commitment to evolving with our customers’ needs. Watching that growth firsthand is one of the things I enjoy most about being part of Koroseal.
