Trend Focus: Pulse

PULSE-BLOG-HEADER-IMAGE

Koroseal’s 2026-2027 Design Trend Forecast, Fractured Reality, explores four trend concepts, each uniquely supporting authentic and intentional spaces. This month, we are taking a closer look at Pulse - an evolution to holistic wellness that emphasizes the interconnections of mental, physical, social, and environmental well-being.

Incorporating Pulse into DesignA joyful family enjoys preparing a healthy meal together in their modern kitchen.

At its core, Pulse is centered on holistic wellness—a philosophy that encourages alignment between our thoughts, values, actions, and lifestyle, with the intention of living more authentically and mindfully.

Designs inspired by this trend prioritize experiences that foster resilience, purpose, and a sense of belonging. The goal is to seamlessly integrate wellness into everyday life, creating environments and moments that support people in meaningful, lasting ways.

Mental wellness, for example, can be influenced by factors such as neurodiversity, sensory sensitivities, and access to calming, supportive environments. Because each person's needs and experiences are unique, there is no one-size-fits-all definition of balance or wellness. Pulse celebrates personalized approaches that empower individuals to thrive in ways that feel authentic to them.

While thoughtful lighting, acoustics, and predictable patterns provide reassurance and calm, designs frequently play with color - featuring warm neutrals, calming greens, and neuro-friendly tones, accented with vibrant shades to bring energy, collaboration, and focus.

Natural materials like wood, woven fibers, bamboo, and grasses pair well alongside abstract forms and fractal patterns. These promote both visual interest as well as comfort and predictability.

Designs can also blur the line between interior and exterior -  incorporating vegetation, outdoor views, and sensory textures.

Through balanced pairings, Pulse creates a sense of authentic calm that is both invigorating and soothing, leading to serene, restorative spaces.

Pulse in Practice: NeoCon & Design Days Sightings

The core design elements of Pulse are beginning to emerge more frequently. Recently, the Koroseal Design team recognized several Pulse design elements featured throughout both NeoCon at the Merchandise Mart and Design Days at Fulton Market. While attending these events, our team saw various executions focused on holistic wellness, as well as the utilization of Pulse-themed color palettes, including greens of varying shades and light purples.
