Redefine Design by Koroseal

Earlier this year, Koroseal design experts shared the Design Report: 2025 Trend Forecast, highlighting how 2025 trends were a true celebration of contrasts – like dynamic hues paired with grounding neutrals, or structured forms softened by organic textures.

The report shared four key, and uniquely different, trends. This month, our Design Team would like to highlight Tech & Trust - a trend that conveys a sense of progress and balance, both visually and functionally. 

What is Tech & Trust?

The rapid evolution of technology is becoming deeply embedded into our daily lives, resulting in a growing human dependency on our technological devices and data. While we welcome these advancements to foster societal and environmental progress, we also crave continued connection to humanity. Tech & Trust nurtures the balance between technological advancement and human nature.  

Earthy blues and greens balance the contrasts of sleek black, silver, and gray - illuminating a world that can support both natural and technological advancements. Innovation drives new possibilities. The resulting excitement and mystery elicits a duality of trust and doubt, which is reflected in contrasting color palettes and prints. Tech & Trust-inspired colors and designs represent a digital future that blends technology and human nature. 

Why We Love It

Tech & Trust is an evolving trend, sparking curiosity. With an increasing use of generative AI, but limited regulation of AI practices, there are a lot of unknowns; and frankly, technology can be overwhelming. Technological responsibility and awareness are becoming more and more of a necessity.

We seek a balance of technology vs humanity, and find comfort in authentic experiences and meaningful connections. This lends itself to unique design applications to create both innovative and authentic spaces.

The use of technological tools and AI in our design methods themselves will evolve, and will require transparency and trust to ensure customer satisfaction;  however, how we engage with daily technology will change dramatically over the next few years, and how designers accommodate those uses will continue to evolve as well.  

In creating spaces, we look for ways to improve design aesthetics as we integrate more smart technology seamlessly into our daily lives, embedding AI into spaces for upgraded function. On the other hand, we also want to ensure we aren’t overwhelming users, and deliver a space that allows them a “digital detox”, or digital break when they are looking for a retreat away from the daily influx of data. This concept is very timely as we see Gen Z craving “digital detoxification”, utilizing what some refer to as “dumb phones” to help improve mental health. These phones are purely functional, lacking today’s bells and whistles, and allow users to take a break from the constant stream of smart phone notifications and information.

Although it is not always easy, as designers, we accept the challenge and strive to find the perfect balance of tech and trust to promote digital well-being.
