As both a designer and fine artist, Patty Madden creates beautiful, sophisticated designs. Her talents sweep across the creative spectrum from interior design and decorative products, to 3D engraving methods, and 3D printed fine art wall sculptures. Patty is a renowned designer, known to create works of art that manifest into blended displays of artistry, technology, and human connection.
Growing up surrounded by luxury design and creativity, Patty developed an artistic eye at an early age. Patty’s family was full of artists. Her father designed and built luxury yachts, while her mother worked in yacht interior design. Additionally, Patty’s grandmother, the late Martha Phillips, was a trailblazing fashion maven and owned a renowned couture clothing salon, “Martha”, on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. Spending time at her grandmother’s shop, Patty was often immersed in the world of couture fashion. It was within the walls of “Martha” that Patty began her talent as a designer, sketching models adorned in exquisite fashions.
“I designed and created from the time I could hold a pencil, never going anywhere without my sketch pad.”
Patty’s early exposure to high-end design and couture fashion fueled her career from the start. At Parsons School of Design, she further honed her skills, and later diverged from fashion to interior design. Patty then designed for large commercial retail spaces, and later ventured into decorative products for commercial and high-end residential projects. After discovering her love of creating wallcovering and upholstery products, Patty decided to focus on interior product design exclusively.
Whether designing for Koroseal or developing her own collections, Patty has remained committed to creating surfaces that foster a deeper connection between people, materials, and the natural world.
Over the years, Patty has remained at the forefront of design, embracing new technologies to extend her creativity even further. Her creative vision blends high-end artistry with innovative technology. Paired with her passion for mindfulness, Patty creates designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also thoughtfully crafted to promote a sense of well-being.
“Through embossing, layered texture, and subtle shifts in color and sheen, we can create surfaces that invite people to slow down, touch, and connect with a space in a more meaningful way.”
When embarking on a new design, Patty often looks to nature, and the world around her. Every collection she designs begins with a story. Sometimes it starts with something she has observed —the rhythm of tree bark, the movement of water, the structure of woven materials. Other times, it stems from identifying a need within the marketplace and asking, “How can we approach this obstacle differently?” Through exploratory sketches, material studies, and texture development, a design begins to take shape. Patty’s artistic and curious nature implores her to explore how the new design will perform at scale, how it will interact with light, and how it can support the broader vision of an interior space. This holistic approach drives the foundation of Patty’s unique and timeless designs.
In Patty’s opinion, design is as much about solving problems as it is about aesthetics.
“It’s about finding that sweet spot where form meets function, and where beauty is synonymous with usability.”
Patty’s problem-solution mindset is something she finds imperative to good design. Through a thoughtful approach, decision-making becomes more intentional, ensuring that the end result is not only stunning, but also purposeful and relevant.
Patty’s passion doesn’t stop there, she continues to evolve as an artist everyday. In her work, Patty utilizes new analog and digital printing technologies, as well as a 3D engraving method she pioneered herself. Patty’s “Wire Art” technique allows one’s imagination to explore the architectural structure of shapes as if they are from the inside, looking out. By combining digital technology with geometric design, Patty holds the unique ability to use light and shadow to create a one-of-a-kind visual experience.
Through Patty’s innovation and passion, others are able to explore art unlike ever before.
Patty is the only designer currently in our Koroseal portfolio that has products across 3 categories— performance wallcoverings, digital designs, and textile. Below are a few of our team’s favorite Patty Madden-inspired designs.

We met with Patty to learn more about her designs, approach, and inspiration. See what else she had to say!
Can you delve into a design trend or technique that you are particularly fond of, and explain why it resonates with you?
Patty: One trend I have been especially drawn to is the movement toward immersive, sensory
interiors—spaces that engage us not only visually, but also through texture, depth, and a
connection to nature. Designers are increasingly looking for materials that bring warmth and
authenticity into commercial environments, whether through biophilic influences, dimensional surfaces, or handcrafted details. I love seeing wallcoverings evolve beyond decoration to become an integral part of the architectural experience. Through embossing, layered texture, and subtle shifts in color and sheen, we can create surfaces that invite people to slow down, touch, and connect with a space in a more meaningful way.
What is your favorite pattern or design that you developed for Koroseal, and why?
Patty: That is always a difficult question because each collection tells its own story. One design that remains especially meaningful to me is a new one that has not yet been released! The inspiration came from my fascination with woven textiles, and the intricate beauty found in the intersection of tiny cords and fibers. I love that it will bridge the softness and familiarity of textiles, with the durability and performance required in today's environments. For me, developing this new product embodies what I strive to achieve as a designer: creating products that are both highly functional and emotionally resonant.
What’s a hobby or interest that fuels your creativity?
Patty: Creating 3D animations for meditations is a deeply immersive pastime that has a profound influence on my design work. This practice combines visual artistry with mindfulness, which helps in developing a keen sense of how colors, movement, and form affect emotions and states of mind. This experience allows me to bring a sense of tranquility and flow into my designs, inspiring patterns that embody a sense of calm and balance, while also providing a sense of visual harmony. Understanding how people engage with a meditative space can also translate into creating designs that are not just aesthetically pleasing, but also promote well-being. My animations are in a lab where I experiment with how visual elements can influence mood and atmosphere—insights that are invaluable in any design-related field.
What motivates you to continue evolving as a designer, and how do you stay updated on industry trends?
Patty: I find inspiration everywhere. Of course, I pay attention to industry publications, trade shows, and what is happening within the design community, but I also look beyond our field. Nature has always been one of my greatest teachers. I study organic patterns, the way light interacts with surfaces, and the intricate structures found in the natural world. Travel, art, fashion, architecture, and even emerging technologies can spark new ideas. Equally important is listening—to designers, clients, and end users. Understanding how people want to feel within a space often reveals where design is heading long before it becomes a formal trend.
How do you determine the best way to bring your artistic vision to life through materials, texture, color, and execution?
Patty: The material itself often guides the process. Each technique—whether embossing, printing, weaving, or layering—has its own language and possibilities. Texture plays an enormous role because it influences how people experience a surface. Color is equally important; even subtle shifts can change the emotional tone of a space. Ultimately, I am always asking whether the final product captures the feeling that inspired it in the first place.
