Stacy Garcia, is a design and trend forecasting expert in the hospitality and commercial interior industries. As an internationally renowned designer, she has partnered with some of the world’s leading manufacturers to create artful interior products— spanning from floor to ceiling.

Her works have been featured across resorts, hotels, and homes around the world. She is a chair holder with Color Marketing Group, was named one of the 10 leading voices in hospitality design, and has been honored by ASID for Design Excellence. In 2026, she was named the ICON of Industry by NEWH. Stacy’s work has been featured in Interior Design, Boutique Design, LUXE, Architectural Digest, and Traditional Home. Her exemplary vision and passion for design result in breathtaking executions.

Stacy’s Design Journey

As a child, Stacy was very interested in the arts, signing up for any after-school arts program she could, including ceramics, sewing, and even dollhouse furniture making. Stacy had always been drawn to design as a form of communication and was awed by its ability to evoke emotion. Finding a career that allowed her to do so was exhilarating. This curiosity led Stacy to pursue a career in the visual arts. She attended both Central Saint Martins in London and Syracuse University in New York, earning a degree in Surface Pattern Design.

While working in the hospitality space, Stacy found a dear and enlightening mentor, Martha Tillim. Martha’s guidance was pivotal in Stacy’s career. Her knowledge in merchandising and sales, paired with her vibrant personality and unwavering support, helped Stacy enrich her skills as both a designer and businesswoman; paving the way for Stacy’s future career path.

The mentorship Stacy found in Martha inspired her to “pay it forward”. Stacy founded a mentorship program through The Hospitality Industry Network - NEWH - called “Martha’s Mentors”. The program is a transformative, 10-month initiative, designed to connect aspiring professionals in the hospitality industry with experienced industry mentors in honor of Martha’s legacy.

Today, Stacy continues to expand her designs through strategic partnerships and new product categories, including casegoods and seating, creating a cohesive design vision across wallcoverings, textiles, furniture, and materials.

Worldly Inspiration & Trend-Setting

Stacy’s passion for travel drives the inspiration for her profound designs. She finds that exploring different cultures, and exposing herself to diverse aesthetics and artistic traditions, fuels her creativity. An invaluable piece of advice she received also helped to shape her design career:

“Embrace the journey, not just the destination—it encourages me to appreciate every step of my creative process, from something sparking an idea in my mind, to the final product. It is a reminder for me that every experience, positive or negative, is an opportunity for growth and innovation.”

When approaching a new design, Stacy begins with both inspiration and intent. After identifying a need or gap in the market, she utilizes her experiences to build a story informed by nature, architecture, fashion, and global influences. From there, Stacy is always cognizant of how the design will perform in a space—how it interacts with light, layers with materials, and holds up over time. The goal is to create something that is both visually compelling, and highly functional.

Staying engaged with industry trends is an active and ongoing process. As a chair holder with Color Marketing Group, Stacy is in the frontlines of providing insights into global color direction and emerging influences. Industry research, coupled with her frequent travel and attendance at major international trade shows, allows Stacy to observe how design is evolving in real settings around the world. Her partnerships with industry reporters allow her to dive deeper, studying leading concepts firsthand. Equally important is staying connected to designers, operators, and sales teams. Meaningful, ongoing dialogue with those in the field keeps important perspectives, and fuels forward thinking, grounded in real market needs.

Stacy enjoys supporting the industry by translating trend insights into meaningful forecasts for other designers. In fact, her group helps to create annual trend reports and other trend resources for the design community.

Identifying the best way to execute an artistic vision is always a highly collaborative and technical process. Stacy works closely with manufacturing teams, like Koroseal, to refine embossing, print techniques, and material selections that best express the intended design. This is where collaboration and partnership is key.

“Design collaboration requires alignment and trust. The best partnerships bring together creative, technical, and commercial expertise with a shared commitment to excellence.“

Every decision along the production path is made to ensure the final product performs in demanding commercial environments, while maintaining a strong design perspective. Open communication and mutual respect allow ideas to evolve and elevate the final result. This type of partnership results in a collection that truly resonates in the marketplace.

Behind the Design with Stacy

We connected with Stacy to learn more about her designs, approach, and inspiration. See what she had to say!

Can you delve into a design trend or technique that you are particularly fond of, and explain why it resonates with you?

Stacy: I am drawn to the evolution of textured wallcoverings that blur the line between material and illusion. Surfaces inspired by stone, plaster, and woven textiles are being reinterpreted with a refined, modern sensibility. The result is wallcovering that delivers both depth and durability, which is essential in hospitality and commercial interiors.

How do you approach the balance between creativity and functionality?

Stacy: A product needs to be functional first. I love the challenge of pushing the boundaries of creativity through material selections and form so that the end result is both functional and interesting. As a designer, you have succeeded when the final result is seamless.

What is your favorite pattern or design that you developed for Koroseal?

Stacy: Cityscape remains one of the most meaningful and best performing designs in the collection. It captures the look of hand plastered walls with a refined, dimensional finish, creating a versatile foundation for hospitality and commercial interiors.

It adds depth without overpowering a space, which makes it highly adaptable across project types. We are currently exploring a color update, and I am excited to see how it continues to evolve.

How has your design style evolved over the course of your career?

Stacy: Early on, I loved bright, bold, and unapologetic color. Today, I personally embrace a more modern eclectic aesthetic -  characterized by vintage vibes, a mix of sophisticated materials, and pops of colors. My skills have also evolved and I think and design much more holistically, not just to create a single “wow” item.  Now, I think more about how the design will live in a space and how an interior designer can integrate the product. My studio was an early adopter of AI and we are using this technology to push the limits of design.
